Testo: Church of the Madonna of the Roses
The building was constructed between 1585 and 1599. Baldassare Lanci from Urbino, creator of the complex , adopted a Greek cross plan. The classical style facade is very simple and the four arms of the church unite under a square dome cladding surmounted by a polygonal lantern. The church takes its name from the fresco preserved inside, where a “Madonna that offers a rose to the Child “ is represented. It’s been executed by a XV century Sienese artist .Another fresco, the so called “Madonna of the Prisons” is a Sienese work , dated 1300.
